Laura Carlin Dance

Qualifications:
BA (Hons) Dance

Hi my name is Laura Carlin an outgoing and energetic Dance Instructor with talent in a wide variety of social dances, strong ability to teach via demonstration and interaction.

I have recently graduated University with a BA Hons in Dance which mainly specialises in contemporary and jazz styles. I have more than 3 years of experience working with school kids around the Yorkshire area which has involved teaching different styles and techniques as part of school curriculum and after school activities. My passion is to spread health to kids with the fun of teaching them how to dance whilst having fun & learning.

We all are aware that there is an increasing problem with childhood obesity, which can lead to immediate consequences in childhood as well as in adulthood such as asthma, cardiovascular risks, type 2 diabetes and psychological effects. Exercise helps improve mood, helps children focus upon learning, prevents them from becoming overweight and helps with their physiological development, growing strong bones and muscles.

Dance also gives all children the outlet to show their emotions through movement ,as some children struggle to express themselves in day-to-day scenarios. I have found from my classes and other classes I have observed that dance can give the most unsettled student the encouragement to participate and excel within an academic setting.

My sessions can be specially designed for children at any age or ability; they incorporate fitness as a natural part of their lives through dance, music and exercise. The sessions include choreography, technique, fitness, games and performance aspects to encourage healthy lifestyle habits as well as developing leadership, respect, teamwork, pride, confidence, and responsibility. But also make sure that everyone, regardless of their ability feel included and are able to enjoy participating.
