Campaigning

Since its inception, Heartbeat of Sport has campaigned for the regular and compulsory cardiac screening of all professional and semi-professional athletes. With the unfortunate passing of high profile Rugby League stars such as Danny Jones, as well as professionals in football, swimming, rowing and amateur competitors in events such as the London Marathon, the possibility of sudden cardiac arrest remains a constant issue within sport.

The charity continues to work with other voluntary organisations, national governing bodies and player representative bodies to raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest and mechanisms for early detection and treatment. The charity organise a number of fundraising events throughout the year, working with community clubs, schools and other community organisations to education adults and children on the underlying causes of sudden cardiac arrest as well as reducing the risk of heart attacks through healthy eating and leading an active lifestyle.
